Introduction
This article covers a set of necessary free software for a personal computer. All software products mentioned in here have a freeware status and can be used absolutely legally and downloaded from shara-soft.ru website.
Firewall
Let us say a couple of words on what firewall programs are. Firewalls serve to protect your computer from network threats. Firewalls filter everything that goes through the network and also they can analyze software activity. If any program does not behave well and wants to send unwanted information from your computer, a firewall will inform you of the attempt. However, to be honest, the extent of Windows Firewall operation will be enough for most users. If you needs advance protection, you can easily use a freeware version of a firewall from Outpost.

As an alternative Comodo Personal Firewall can be used. It works pretty much the same as products from Agnitum and Kerio, which are a little more complicate to set up.
CD/DVD emulators
From a paid version of the program alcohol 120 7, the free version is different only in not being able to burn disks. Using this program you have to be careful. If you check the checkbox for ‘Ignore media type’ in program settings, the OS will see all disks inserted in the drive as non-recordable and will refuse to burn them. To resolve this issue the check box needs to be left unchecked.
Data restore
Sometimes there is a need to restore data deleted by mistake. When you delete files from your trash can, the data is not actually erased from your hard-drive, only record about this data is deleted. You can use Recuva to restore deleted data. Just select the hard-drive from which data was deleted and click ‘Analyze’. Restored data needs to be saved on another logical drive to eliminate rewriting. There is also a good restore wizard in this program.
